About

Daria Fedorova is a Russian bassoonist based in Switzerland, whose artistic work spans solo performance, orchestral music, chamber music, and contemporary repertoire.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Specialized Music Performance (Soloist) at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), studying with Prof. Matthias Racz. She previously completed her Master of Arts in Music Performance at the same institution. Before moving to Switzerland, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Prof. Volker Tessmann and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Prof. Bram van Sambeek. Her early musical education took place in Moscow.

Daria has performed with orchestras including the Berner Symphonieorchester, Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn, Berliner Symphoniker, Neue Philharmonie München, and Klassische Philharmonie Bonn. As a soloist, she has appeared with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra.

Her artistic development has been enriched by participation in internationally renowned academies and festivals, including the Lucerne Festival Academy, Grafenegg Academy, Verbier Festival, and Musethica. These experiences have shaped her interest in musical collaboration, stylistic versatility, and the exploration of new repertoire.

In 2026, Daria participated in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, advancing to the second round, and received recognition in the contemporary music interpretation competition at ZHdK. Her earlier distinctions include a prize at the Emsbürener Musiktage.

Alongside her orchestral work, Daria is particularly interested in chamber music and contemporary music, seeking opportunities to explore the expressive possibilities of the bassoon across different musical settings.

Through her performances, she aims to bring the bassoon’s distinctive voice to a wider audience, combining technical precision with expressive depth and a strong sense of musical storytelling.
